NEBIVOLOL 5 mg – 1 Box (30 Tablets)
Active Ingredient: Nebivolol 5 mg
Pack Size: 30 tablets
Therapeutic Class: Beta-blocker (selective β1-adrenergic receptor blocker)
Description
Nebivolol is a prescription medicine used primarily to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and, in some patients, chronic heart failure. It helps lower blood pressure and reduce strain on the heart.
Uses
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Stable chronic heart failure (in selected patients, usually older adults and as part of combination therapy)
- Cardiovascular risk reduction associated with blood pressure control
How It Works
Nebivolol selectively blocks β1 receptors in the heart, slowing the heart rate and reducing blood pressure. It also promotes the release of nitric oxide, which helps relax blood vessels and improve blood flow.
Dosage
- Usual adult dose: 5 mg once daily.
- Can be taken with or without food.
- Take at the same time each day.
- Continue treatment even if you feel well, unless advised otherwise by your doctor.
Common Side Effects
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Slow heart rate (bradycardia)
- Nausea
- Shortness of breath (occasionally)
Important Precautions
- Do not stop treatment suddenly without medical advice.
- Use with caution in patients with asthma, diabetes, liver disease, or circulation disorders.
- May interact with other blood pressure medicines, antiarrhythmics, and certain antidepressants.
- Regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate is recommended.
